Now I am…

“For years I wanted to be older, and now I am.”  Margaret Atwood

My first thought when I woke up this morning went something like this…If I were a refrigerator I would have been thrown away at least four times by now…probably more…oh Lordy… I am officially 65!

I don’t feel much older, until I look in the mirror…and then…Ahhhh…I am an official MS- (Medicare Sign-up)–I mean I don’t even have a choice in that…if I don’t sign up today I get a penalty! Thank you government…really, thank you?

How did this happen? I was 23 just yesterday with the whole world ahead of me…and now I’m 65!!

Married 41 years, four fabulous children…bookkeeper, teacher, cook, wife, mother, (not a writer) and now what?

For some reason I decided it would be a great idea to celebrate my big day by starting a blog…what???

Seems I have so much “Stuff” (could use another S word but it might be deleted) that I want to share, that I need to share—about life, cooking, sewing, entertaining, books, movies, “sage” advice, that I thought I’d better get started soon…before I’m too old to remember what I’ve been doing for the last 65 years…and before I forget how to read the instructions on how to blog…and before all those beloved recipes become nothing but “start by sautéing onions and garlic”… and before my advice about babies and motherhood becomes extinct…

With four adult children who have husbands and fiances and significant others, in this big wide world, I somehow feel the need to cram them full of my “words of wisdom”, whether asked for or not…

Not to be morbid on my birthday but I only have a certain amount of time left to keep bugging them…I mean really bugging them!

But all I can really think about today is how very blessed I have been in this life, with family and friends and good work and love of life, which is really what this is all about.

I intend to eat, drink and be merry today…all day and maybe every other day this whole 365 day year…OK, well, maybe not the drinking part.

So here it goes…blog post number 1-posted!!

Words of wisdom for today?  “They say it’s my birthday….we’re gonna have a good time!”
